The making of a Radio Days DJ. The making of a DJ is a story that starts with a young boy born in a small but proud and elegant town to Alice and Ralph. At the age of four, he discovered a magic machine that played music by itself, the Wurlitzer Jukebox. This was the beginning of his love for music, which would shape his future. During the next two years, he listened to music on the machine, but he did not understand the words. His mom explained that the music was in English from a place far away called the United States. He would spend afternoons with his grandpa around his big new GRUNDIG radio with “blue eye tuning” AM band and several short waves. They would listen to music from Big Bands like Glen Miller, and grandpa would read special collections of Readers Digests Magazine with all sorts of stories from World War 2.
